Students enrolled in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences, PLTW Pre-Engineering, and Computer Sciences at Knox Central High School and Lynn Camp Schools have an unique opportunity to extend their learning beyond a typical career class experience.
This is not your regular high school experience program, but an innovative model that will personalize your learning experience with knowledge and skills that you will need to be successful in college and in careers. If you are looking for an opportunity to prepare yourself for post-secondary and in a competitive workforce through employer engagement, then prepare to choose a pathway that will lead to real-world learning.
The Knox County Public Schools have partnered with the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation, Morehead State University, KCTCS, and several employers to help strengthen Kentucky’s talent pipeline in high-demand industries by joining forces for Youth Career Connection (YCC).
All students enrolled in the YCC supported career pathways have an opportunity to participate in the program. Benefits of participating (for free) include:
- Earn FREE dual credits and/or certifications
- Learn through a career-focused curriculum
- Increase employability skills through hands-on learning workshops and guest speakers
- Choose a career pathway for high-demand occupations
- Recruitment from employer partnerships
- Become both college and career ready to succeed in life
Our program is one of 24 nationwide that have received a federal Youth Career Connect grant.
