The role of curriculum coaches in the Knox County Public Schools is to meets regularly with administrators and teachers to identify specific curriculum, instruction and assessment training needs of their school. Just like their job title, these individuals serve as the “coach” by providing staff with effective teaching strategies through professional learning opportunities.
Curriculum coaches assist teachers in analysis of student progress, student work, and teaching methods in reading, writing, and math. They recommends ways in which the curriculum and classroom instruction can be adjusted to meet the learning needs of all students.
Curriculum coaches also serve as a point of contact/liaison between the school and district academic leadership staff.
